Job Description Location: Chicago, IL Hospital: RUSH University Medical Center Department: Ophthalmology Work Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0) Shift: Shift 1 Work Schedule: 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 4:30:00 PM) Summary: The Ophthalmic Photographer performs specialized imaging procedures to support ophthalmologists in examining, diagnosing, and treating eye diseases. Performs ophthalmic imaging procedures and operates advanced ophthalmic imaging equipment including but not limited to, digital fluorescein and ICG angiography (including IV injections and related patient care), color fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, anterior segment slit-lamp photography, and external oculoplastic imaging. Other information: Required Job Qualifications: · High School diploma or equivalent. · CRA preferred but not required with two years of experience · CPR or BLS certification. · Must maintain CPR certification. · Proficiency in the use of a wide variety of cameras and equipment and electronic imaging. · Basic knowledge includes general ocular anatomy, basic retinal pathologies, basic anterior segment pathologies, external ocular pathologies, color fundus photography principles, and fluorescein angiography principles. · Manual dexterity, effective communication, precision and accuracy. · Excellent communication skills · Strong interpersonal skills Preferred Job Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and advanced medical training. Responsibilities: - Performs digital based color fundus photography, including stereo photography of the optic nerve and posterior pole on 35 mm film, Polaroid film or digital system. - Performs fluorescein angiography and ICG on the digital capture system and using the Optos, Heidelberg, and Zeiss digital camera. - Performs anterior segment photography using the Topcon photo slit lamp. - Performs external photography of the lids, orbit and full face using the 35 mm digital camera with a macro lens attachment. - Performs OCT and OCT-A on the all the types of systems available, e.g. Zeiss system, Heidelberg, and Optovue. - Performs venous puncture for intravenous injection of ordered contrast. Must maintain skill and knowledge to perform successfully. - Performs general photography for department and faculty. - Maintains photography equipment such as cameras, digital imaging system and all OCT machines. - Maintains inventory of photography and medical supplies. - Participates in research studies by obtaining certification for study protocols and uploading or downloading results to the various reading centers. - Documents all activities in EPIC accurately and appropriately. Maintains patient confidentiality and updates EPIC EMR knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis. - Completes other relevant duties. Rush is an equal opportunity employer.
